Matild Palace a Luxury Collection Hotel Budapest

High luxury hotel. The high-floor suites have amazing view. Even though the hotel is located on the busiest street in the city, you can hardly hear any noise. And because of its location, you can walk to most of the attractions. The breakfast deserves a special praise. Lots of choices and perfectly prepared. I love their coffee and it turns out that they have their own/special coffee beans. The SPA area was relatively small but cozy. My only minor complaint is that the iron tea pot for “hot tea” was never hot. But the whole area is really relaxing. I highly recommend this model.

Perhaps one of the most perfect hotels we have stayed at, and we have stayed at too many to count. The rate is a huge bargain for the hotel. Built in a renovated historic building in old Budapest, it has all the character that goes with that , but yet very modern up to date rooms. Lobby is wonderful, the Michelin starred Spago is totally fabulous. Rooftop bar is as nice and chic as you will find anywhere. Great location, rooms wonderful, with a larger water room in the bathroom. Super quiet. Hotel would be fabulous at twice the current price . Cannot recommend highly enough .

A highlight is Spago, the Michelin-starred restaurant on the ground floor—its cuisine, service, and wine selection are exceptional. But the real magic happens on the rooftop: a stylish bar with panoramic views, boats gliding along the river, and enchanting evenings under the open sky. Be sure to book a table in advance! If the weather is nice, I highly recommend heading up with a cigar and a glass of wine—it’s the perfect way to savor the moment. I did notice that since the departure of the previous manager, the hotel has become slightly more "relaxed." The Turks certainly know how to maintain impeccable service, and their presence was felt—back then, the manager was always visible, even on weekends. That said, Matild Palace remains one of Budapest’s finest hotels, though there’s always room for growth. I highly recommend it—whether for a stay or just a visit to its restaurants. To the hotel, I’d suggest being even more flexible and welcoming, not just to guests but also to outside visitors. The potential here is truly outstanding!
