Mayfair Hotel

This hotel enjoys a prime location, which is both a blessing and a curse. While it’s perfectly placed for easy access to Mthatha’s vibrant energy, the noise levels can be overwhelming especially if you're hoping for a peaceful night. The staff are a standout feature: warm, attentive, and consistently helpful. Their hospitality adds a welcome layer of comfort to the experience. The rooms, however, are a bit of a gamble. Having stayed here multiple times, I’ve experienced both the highs and the lows. The hotel itself looks fresh and modern from the outside, but signs of wear are creeping in. Dirty corridor carpets and a less-than-pristine elevator hint that maintenance is slipping. Inside, the rooms are decently sized but lack a “wow” factor. Depending on your luck or perhaps your loyalty you might find yourself with a working air conditioner… or not. Sink stoppers tend to misbehave, and the queen-sized beds are standard fare. Dining includes buffet options in the morning and evening. While convenient, the menu can feel repetitive if you’re a frequent guest.

Parking and checking were great. Rooms carpeted, small but cozy. Good location opposite the mall and in town. Breakfast was so so.

Nice hotel. Very clean and modern. Breakfast was delicious. Just the aircon in our room didn’t work nicely. The staff were super friendly and helpful
