Medina Palms

We had a fabulous time at Medina Palms, the staff is friendly, and the location and amenities are truly top-notch. From the entrance to the conception of the outdoorsy gardens, swimming pools, lounge area everything gives a peaceful feeling. The real surprise was at the very first moment we stepped in, the reception informed us that we got upgraded. Instead of the 2 rooms booking they gave us the penthouse. The stay was a 2-floor with rooms and a living room on the ground floor and an open living room, balconies, and a jacuzzi on the rooftop, opened to a nice view of the Medina Palms Resort. The place is ideal for a couple of family accommodations.

Arguably the poshest hotel in the area. We stayed in the two-floor room with a mini sea view; compact but charming. The air conditioning was a true saviour in the steamy heat, turning the room into a much-needed little sanctuary. Food-wise, we only tried breakfast and a bit of room service. It was fine - just not quite up to the standard you’d expect at this level. The coffee martini on the other hand! Winner! 🏆 The beach was a slight letdown, with views of sandbags and seaweed that could’ve used a daily clean-up. A bit of a missed opportunity, given the setting.

Food from the restaurant at Medina Palms in Watamu, Kenya on August 14, 2025 caused three people in our party food poisoning from the short ribs that were served to each individual. Barf a rama was intense. Puke buck deluxe was in full force as well as a hospital visit for an I. V. bag of fluid. Don't order the short ribs!
