Amazing hotel, views, food and location. Traveling with kids to this property is amazing. The kids club is very active, has lots of daily activities for little ones and the staff is very friendly. Special thanks to Eva, Jenni, Andrea, Esther, Silvia and Marta for making our kids feels so special in the kids club during our stay!
Another beautiful stay at Meliá Cala Galdana. Pros: Stunning location, fabulous views. Stones throw from the beach. Wonderful staff - especially Andre. We hired a car through the hotel, which was convenient as they delivered it to us and very good value for money. The decor, scent of the hotel and facilities such as the gym were all fantastic. Breakfast options were vast and lots of freshly made omelettes / fruits available. Room was kept very clean by the friendly housekeeping staff. Cons: We arrived on the first day of the season and there were a few issues in our room - the air con was not working, there was no hot water, no WiFi. However the staff sorted it out and apologised by treating us to a complimentary dinner and bottle of champagne sent up to the room. I’m a big believer in ‘the response’ to an incident and not the incident itself. In this regard, we were happy that the hotel fixed everything quickly, apologised and offered these gestures to make up for the inconveniences. My only other constructive criticism is regarding the swimming pools - all three pools were bitterly cold, even the jacuzzis were luke warm. I only saw one person actually swim in them over a ten day period and many remarked at how they wanted to swim but couldn’t due to the temperature being unbearable. If this was fixed, I think it would make the overall experience even better for guests in the future.
Stayed here many times. Recently the hotel tried to position itself more upmarket with nightly rates reflecting it. I don’t think it will work as 300+ rooms and limited real estate will always feel crowded (breakfast, pool etc). Also soft product would need to improve massively to justify higher prices (from food, coffee to service) . I would recommend the hotel to stay as it used to be - it was a working formula. 500€+ per night will lead to different expectations that the hotel is not able to fulfil. Very cold pools in August
