We stayed at the hotel for three nights in April 2025. Right on our arrival we were impressed by sleek modern interior design in the communal areas as well as in the rooms. All furniture is new. The hotel has a renovated look. Very polite and helpful staff! The hotel offers great variety of food for the breakfast buffet. Beautiful pool area with water of just right temperature. We wish we could extend our holidays and stay at this hotel at least one or two nights longer.
This was our first-time visiting La Palma and wow, what a wonderful island! Quite different from the other Canary Islands we've previously visited. Greener, quieter, more mountainous, unspoilt, and great hiking among other things to do as it recovers from the Tajogaite volcanic eruption in September 2021. Newly renovated and reopened as Melia La Palma hotel (formerly Sol La Palma hotel) it was perfect for a most enjoyable week’s stay we had in late March 2025 in a spectacular location which enabled us to relax and recharge our batteries. Plus, we had pleasantly warm, windy weather which was an added bonus to escape from the misery of the UK winter. We were treated to a beautiful sunset every evening. The staff we encountered were all very attentive, friendly, and engaging. The service that stood out was from Paula who oversees the hotel’s activities, plus Belen & Sarah in The Level reception. They were all extremely helpful and went above and beyond giving us an overview of the facilities, the island and finding out information and reporting back. True ambassadors for the Melia brand and one of the reasons why we like staying at their hotels. In fact, it was Paula whom we met at the Melia Fuerteventura hotel 2 years ago who recommended this hotel to us as she had been transferred there from Sol La Palma whilst it was closed due to the volcanic eruption. There were a few minor issues and things the hotel needs to add to make it even better, like spa / sauna, table tennis, padel and tennis courts. Also, the pool wasn't that warm and there were no English language channels on the television in the room. The hotel is extremely popular with visitors from Germany but that's because the operator Trendtours.de offers extremely attractively priced inclusive packages. We went with TUI flying from Gatwick North Terminal. Would highly recommend as great value half-board package trip. Although a shame TUI doesn't sell The Level directly. We paid an additional charge for the room upgrade, which we considered excellent value, as we had a quiet room (521) on the top, fifth floor with a sea view and use of the dedicated Level reception and lounge for breakfast and during the day for drinks and a good choice of cold food buffet and snacks. We booked a Peugeot 208 hire car in advance from Europcar which was also well worth doing so we were able to visit several places on the island although as the roads are quite wiggly and windy it does take quite a while to get anywhere but there are spectacular views to be enjoyed. Note the hotel charges €10 per day to park in the hotel car park which wasn't mentioned in TUI's details about the hotel and is too small for the size of the property. We ended up parking for free in nearby Puerto Naos, a short walk away. Go and enjoy La Palma! And it's lovely, sweet bananas. We will certainly go back again...
The food is really good, but that’s about it. In reality, the hotel looks much worse than on the photos. Not well upkept. What is a total joke - they basically have almost no rooms with king beds, just 2 singles put together, which is really uncomfortable and hurts my nech during sleep. When you write an enquiry via email - 2 days without any answer. Europe has really gone downhill in terms of quality of services.
