Mels Weldon Dongguan Humen

My first hotel upon arrival in China. Surprisingly modern (my train of thought at the time) and surrounded by drab buildings which in the dark look nice (I was jet lagged and lying in the bath at 3am while watching tv). Come the daylight the town shows itself as dirty and dated. So really you are nestled in a modern oasis where the food is fine, the service somewhat muddled but the prices are excellent. All in all I enjoyed my stay

Not very Western friendly, English is only spoken at the front desk. Smoking is allowed in parts of the hotel, and the smell permeates. There is also a persistent mold/mildew smell. Rooms are large, with good views. Breakfast buffet was ok, not bad but not outstanding. It has a fairly wide range of food, but the quality is mediocre. Not a lot of choices in the area for hotels, so I found it acceptable but limited my time there.

Good views and used to be a really nice hotel. Now it has gotten worse. Rooms ac hardly work 3 rooms later and still same issue. Plus every floor has a black mold issue around the registers. Leaving to another hotel that is kept up.
