I have been in Sri Lanka for over two months and I have travelled down the west coast along the south coast and up the east coast. This is by far one of the best places I’ve stayed at! It’s a boutique style rustic hotel and very quirky with a great outdoor area over looking one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka (check the attached video). The rooms have a very natural feel and nothing is straight and tidily finished but that actually adds to the character of this place and makes it a one off. The staff were very friendly although the service could have been a touch better but this isn’t a French restaurant with top notch service so it gets a 4* for service. The food was was very good over the three days I stayed here and the Sri Lankan curries were the best I’ve had in two months. Highly recommend visiting this place.
We stayed for 4 nights and 5 days, we were a bit hesitant due to the reviews however the manager was lovely as well as the owner. We also didn’t notice the smells or dirt in the rooms mentioned in some reviews. We had breakfast every day and some days lunch and dinner as well, whilst they definitely had more western prices the food was delicious and good quality. The staff were very kind and helpful, the food was delicious although on busy nights it took slightly longer but it wasn’t a problem. It is located near other beach restaurants and diving/snorkelling companies so there is various things to do. The atmosphere is lovely and it is right on the beach front. We had a lovely stay and would return due to the friendliness and the nice vibe.
We loved our stay at Memo’s. Agree with the previous reviewer about top notch location and feel to the place. Really nice touches to the decor and ambience. Great food although agree the service could be a little better. Another tip to the venue would be to switch up the playlist as its on repeat of massage music with an interlude of chilled jazz for a short time and then back to the massage music! All in all, highly recommend this place in Trincomalee!
