Mercure Antwerp City South

The hotel system asked me to publish this review, so this is on them :). I don't stay at hotels often, but my recent stay at Novotel was better. The room at Mercure had a strange hard bench that reminded me of a Soviet hospital. The TV was off to the side of the room, some channels didn't work and, I must say, a modern TV should have a connection to various streaming services, which the TV in the hotel room did not. Novotel had a special temporary sign-in for this. The chair and table seemed random. Everything else was good though. The staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator access to the parking was maybe a bit weird. I stayed here because it was next to my office. The nearby little park is nice, but otherwise, there is almost nothing in the neighborhood.

Good for short stay, bad for long stay. Here is why; +big and new rooms. -uncomfortable beds, even you book king size they give 2 combines single bed. -breakfast is too bad and expensive. -3 elevator but only 1 works at the same time, you need to wait, it's a big hotel. +car park -daily park free 20 euro, and automation always has issues. -electricity issues. -no wifi, they have wifi but often does not work. -when you buy a service, staff asking you pay immediately. Even you tell them "add to my room". They are acting like you will runaway without payment. -windows does not open, room air quality is bad. As conclusion. Good hotel for 1-2 nights. But not recomended for long stay.

We were horrified when a mouse ran across the dining room at breakfast. I immediately told the staff in the breakfast room and they didn’t care at all, they were very dismissive. So we also told the reception desk staff who were more apologetic and later said they had phoned pest control. I would definitely not eat in this hotel, as there are rodents in the areas where food is served. I left my breakfast unfinished, not wanting to consume anymore food from here, but I was never offered a refund.
