Mercure Barnsley Tankersley Manor Hotel

From the moment we arrived and received our doggy welcome pack, we felt happy with the friendliness of the staff. All the staff we encountered were polite and helpful, in the reception, the bar, the spa and the breakfast area. It's not often everyone can tick all the boxes! The room was clean and had plenty of toiletries. Breakfast was nice, with a good selection. The water in the pool was the perfect temperature too! We will definitely go back!

Spa Day Attended Saturday 21.06.25 with a friend. Afternoon Tea excellent & Julie’s service in the bar was exceptional! Molly - Spa attendant had taken the booking a few days prior and was an absolute delight to meet and be greeted by her. The spa instructions and detail was perfect. Laura, my treatment attendant was excellent! Very experienced & the Spa Algae Wrap for 50 minutes as part of the package was phenomenal - a true professional. We shall definitely be returning as the customer service coupled with the value of the package is quite unbeatable. Thank you ladies for a lovely & much needed Saturday. Vicky

Great location, good facilities, but needs improvements in cleanliness and room allocation. The hotel is in a great location—close to the Peak District and the M1, with McDonald's, KFC, and carvery restaurants nearby. Our room was OK; the furniture was a bit dated but there was plenty of storage. However, we were initially allocated a room above the loading bay, despite requesting a quiet room before arrival. This was disappointing. These rooms also have privacy glass, which makes them feel quite claustrophobic as you can't see outside. We prefer a room with a view and requested to be moved, which was accommodated. Cleanliness in the room was acceptable, but housekeeping could pay more attention to details—especially cobwebs. Breakfast was very nice, with a great selection and tasty food. The swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna are excellent features and added a lot to our stay. Unfortunately, the cleanliness in the leisure area was lacking. The air vents above the jacuzzi were particularly dirty and off-putting, and the ceiling also needed cleaning. The whole pool area and changing rooms would benefit from a more thorough and regular cleaning schedule. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but room allocation and cleanliness—particularly in the leisure facilities—could be significantly improved.
