A Wonderful Stay at Mercure Bergamo Centro Palazzo We had an absolutely delightful stay at the Mercure Bergamo Centro Palazzo. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming, offering plenty of helpful local knowledge to enhance our visit. The rooms were clean, modern, and very comfortable. Breakfast was a real highlight — a delicious spread with a wide variety of options to suit all tastes. The hotel’s location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station and conveniently close to the lower town, making it easy to explore. The surrounding area felt safe and secure, with plenty of beautiful sights to take in. We especially enjoyed the organised evening entertainment in the nearby square, which added a lovely touch to our evenings. Overall, we couldn't have asked for a better stay — highly recommended!
We had good experiences with the hotel from a previous trip, so we ended up booking a room at a familiar hotel for our holiday in Bergamo. We ended up booking the Privilege Room because we wanted a better room than before. According to the room information, it was also supposed to have a balcony. The disappointment was that there was no balcony and anyway the Standard room we stayed in before was even better. So we didn't get value for money. One morning we came for breakfast a little later, when we couldn't get a table. In addition, e.g. spoons, coffee cups and coffee (!) had run out. The bed was good and firm.
The first room we stayed in had a window facing the roof, or more precisely, the roof tiles. The air conditioning wasn’t working. We asked to change rooms, and we managed to do so. In room number two, the window wasn’t sealed properly, so you could hear the noise from the street. It was hard to fall asleep. We reported this. It was supposed to be fixed, but it wasn’t. When the air conditioning was on, you could hear water dripping. There were paper cups in the rooms instead of normal mugs or glass and spoons. Breakfasts were weak - both in terms of taste and variety. I didn’t expect such little variety in food in Italy. Very few vegetables. No real juice, just some cheap artificial ones. Price vs. quality = bad. Are there any positives? Yes. I had a place to sleep and it was clean. But, I am paying for something, and there should be a certain minimum standard. It’s like being expected to be happy just because I was allowed to leave the store with the product I had just paid for. I see no reason to go back, as the price doesn’t reflect the quality.
