Mercure Cardiff North Hotel

We had a fab stay! Staff was so friendly and accommodating. You have a bus stop to the center, just around the corner. The room was clean, but the bathroom was very smelly. We fell in love with the ultra comfortable bed. That soft duvet was heaven! Lucky it would not have fitted into my bag 😉 Another lifesaver was the air-conditioning! Very powerful and it cooled the room down in minutes. It was amazing.

This is the second time I've been to this hotel and I thought that my room (307), unlike the room in my first stay, didn't have good lighting in the whole room. The other thing that appeared to be missing was the the usual shower hose so you have to manage with the overhead shower. That said, the rooms have every other amenity, including wonderful toiletry products, slippers and a pleasant decor. The restaurant meals were also varied and enjoyable. On the very positive side is the exceptionally good customer service from the staff, including Moses and Greshan in the restaurant, and Pedro, Naz and Jordana on reception. I felt they were welcoming and helpful, something that I have appreciated, as the purpose of my stay was to visit my terminally ill aunt.

It’s a bit far out for a night in town, we happened to be staying during the heatwave was very grateful for the air con that worked perfectly. The shower room looked clean however the shower didn’t drain well removed the cover to help and it was think in hair and slime. Carpet looked like it needed a good hoover and right to the corners.
