After completing the 3-day, 85km pilgrimage from Paris to Chartres, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to rest and recover than the Hôtel Mercure Chartres Centre Cathédrale. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff greeted me with genuine warmth and hospitality, even upgrading me to a superior room at no extra cost — a gesture I truly appreciated after such a long journey. The room itself was spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable — more than enough space to stretch out and breathe after the intensity of the walk. The bathroom was also large and spotless, with fully functional hot and cold water. I was able to soak in a warm bath, which worked wonders on my tired and aching body. The next morning, breakfast was a highlight: fresh, delicious, and served in a bright, clean dining area that made for a relaxing start to the day. Everything from the pastries to the fruit and coffee was top quality. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chartres — whether you're here on pilgrimage, business, or leisure. I’ll absolutely be returning for future stays. Thank you to the team for helping make the end of my pilgrimage so peaceful and memorable!
We have stayed in hundreds of hotels all over Europe in the last 9 years. This is a pleasant place to stay. The positives: friendly and accommodating staff, comfortable bed, quiet room, good breakfast buffet, walking distance to restaurants, clean hotel, good elevators, good air conditioning. The negatives: room lighting could be better, the shower head keeps falling down, the wifi knocks you out every so often (need to fix this as 3 star hotels have better wifi than yours. Bottom line- we would gladly stay here again.
Ideal situation for visiting Chartres old town. We booked this room as it had air-conditioning and cancelled the other hotel which did not, good move in the heat wave. Hotel was spotlessly clean. We didn't have the breakfast as it was €18 each! If you arrive by car the municipal parking nearby is expensive. There is no on-street parking
