Mercure Civitavecchia Sunbay Park Hotel

I can’t even understand how this hotel has any positive reviews, honestly. Photos of this hotel on the website are extremely. No common area of the hotel had air conditioning, including reception and the hotel itself is in serious need of repair. We encountered a number of light fixtures literally dangling from the ceilings showing wire, broken chairs, old broken table lamp beside the bed that didn’t work and had bare wires showing, etc. Facilities are dirty, including rooms, walls and floors although thankfully the bedding Itself appeared clean. The shower in our bathroom had tons of mold all over the grout. We reluctantly ate dinner at the restaurant as it was late and didn’t know the area and found a bug in our food. Brought it to the attention of the waiter who seemed to conveniently speak no English but tried to indicate that the bug had come from the umbrella above us. Did not offer to do anything about it and charged full price. I should mention we were not the only group there to send back food that night. I Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Bed was horrible. Room was INSANELY hot. Shower was messed up to the point where if u turned it on, you got shot in the face with water. Let alone the toilet that was constantly flowing water and the sink that sprayed water all over you ( and leaked). Do yourself a favor and sleep at the airport if you made the mistake like I did of booking this place after a cruise. ALSO, the bugs in the room are real.

Filthy rooms with consumed drinks left in the mini bar. The bathroom mirror had spit stains and the shower room was mouldy. The place does not live up to the Mercure brand name. Facilities were subpar. Staff initially advised that an iron would be available, only for them to advise the next morning that it is not. The “hot” breakfast was cold and the cold breakfast was poor. The only positive side of this hotel is its great location and room views.
