Excellent hotel team made our stay really good. Good public transport links to centre and elsewhere, easy to get around. Ideal location for us as we drove from UK and wanted an easily accessible car park for the week. We parked at the hotel and used buses to get around for the week - so easy and great value, all buses trams and trains are sort of integrated so you can easily plan a route and get your connection. Bus into the museum area is a 3 min walk along from the hotel and 7 stops along. Bus runs every 10 mins (397). Another bus from same stop (198) takes you to Amsterdam Zuid station (4 stops) for even more connections. Great food albeit a limited menu, chef was excellent and checked personally that guests were happy with food. Good variety at breakfast too. Highly recommended if you do not want to stay in the busy centre and are happy to jump on a bus.

One part of the mattress was stuck with urine. It would be great if this could be thoroughly cleaned. Fitness room was very small. The elevator was too old and did not match the hotel, and it was too far from the reception. You have to walk a long way to reach it. Generally we were satisfied with other services and can come again.

We booked 2 nights at Mercure Hotel Amsterdam West via Booking.com for €302. Upon arrival for check-in, we were told we had to pay an additional €60 per person as a “fee” something we had never encountered before. When we pointed out to the receptionist that Booking.com only mentioned a €3 fee per person, he seemed uninterested and insisted we pay, bringing the total to over €400.We immediately contacted Booking.com, and they confirmed this was incorrect. A few hours later, we went back to reception and spoke to another staff member, who was very professional and immediately acknowledged that the amount had been wrongly calculated. He couldn’t understand why his colleague charged us that extra €120 in the first place. This experience left a very bad first impression not because of the hotel itself, but because of the unhelpful and careless attitude of the first receptionist.
