Mercure Hotel Duisburg City

Good location, rooms fine although air con is noisy, staff on the whole could be more welcoming and hospitable. Pool area excellent although can only accommodate limited numbers. A smart and comfortable hotel on the whole.

Unfortunately, quite disappointing. Cleanliness was a major issue – dust everywhere, stains on the carpet, dirty lampshades, and visible damage to the furniture. The room felt neglected and not property maintained. The air conditioning didn’t work at all – no airflow from the vent, making the room stuffy. I mentioned this at checkout, but the staff member brushed it off and didn’t take the complaint seriously. Instead of addressing the issue, he tried to make excuses. The only real positive was the breakfast – good variety and fresh items. Overall, the hotel feels outdated and poorly maintained. It badly needs renovation and better hygiene standards. For this price, you’ll find much better hotels in the area. Not recommended.

Tired hotel, looks nothing like the photos. Rooms have no aircon, very hot. Bathroom is a joke the toilet is literally rammed up about 2cm from the wall meaning most people can’t actually sit straight on it! There were about 9 of us staying all the same story, nearly all of us moved. Lower floor rooms couldn’t even have window open as opened into a courtyard with guests sitting out there. Hotel says it has room service but it doesn’t on a Sunday, no ice no nothing available. Staff were nice. The bed was decent, and the rooms were clean.
