Mercure Hotel Hannover Oldenburger Allee

Hotel near the highway with excellent public transport access. Beautifully renovated rooms (although they say only one floor has been renovated), friendly staff and a rich tasty breakfast. Unfortunately, during my visit I was not allowed to order dinner in the restaurant - the staff walked around the room for a while, then cleaned the tables and turned off the lights without saying a single word to me... (Un)fortunately, it is of course possible to have food delivered. :)

Arrived at 2am, w/o booking upfront. Got nice room for my family to rest on long road trip back home.

This hotel is just okay, nothing impressive, no bells and whistles. Upon arrival, they failed to mention that there is no daily room cleaning. I only discovered this after three days without any cleaning. I asked at the reception, and they explained that rooms are only cleaned upon request, which I don’t mind as long as the front desk informs guests — which they didn’t. Additionally, I would have expected some form of point compensation, as many other Mercure hotels offer, in exchange for opting out of room cleaning. During dinner, when I asked for a glass of water, the waiter insisted on selling me a bottle of water and initially said that tap water wasn’t available. Eventually, they brought me a glass of tap water, but I found it uncomfortable that I had to insist to get free water.
