Mercure Hotel Panorama Freiburg

I visited this hotel twice this summer with my family and we just loved it! The location is fantastic - the view is wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool is small but not very crowded (at all) and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The only drawback is the breakfast. It's the average hotel breakfast, but it's too expensive for what it is. However, it doesn't ruin our overall experience with the hotel - we loved it!

A great location for hiking! Quite challenging to get down to the town. Service was ok but we struggled not speaking German. Additionally we got charged €20 for 2 coffees in the morning when there’s no amenities to have a drink in the room! Challenging to get into town so we ended up dining in mostly - food was great but so pricey!

Position is wonderful with a great view on the city. You are in front of the black forest and there are a lot of trail for trekking in the forest and that’s really nice. You’re far away from the city center, if you have a car that’s no problem cause it’s like 10 minutes. By walk it’s not a good choice, so you have to call taxi’s every time. The spa is quite ok, just two saunas and one swimming pool. No massage service. The room not bad, but the bathroom is awful, it’s really old and not comfortable; the balcony it’s really nice, with that wonderful view and a deckchair but unfortunately lack of privacy. The thing that was really unacceptable was that one night, around 2 am, i went to the reception to ask a bottle of water, cause i was really thirsty, and he was not able to satisfy my request. I mean, that’s just a bottle of water, and he told me that he didn’t have it and wasn’t able to find one, cause the restaurant and the bar were closed. In a 4 star superior hotel it’s shameful. So the hotel was not bad, but for me it’s a one time experience, Probably not come back again. Edit: The Barman was friendly and nice. He did super cocktail, I really enjoyed everything I drank. So the bar was worth!
