Our stay at Mercure Istanbul Bomonti was quite peaceful. We were very late for our check-in. We were received well at the reception. Initially we were offered a standard room (#1234). Our booking was through a tourist operator. On the website, the rooms listed were approx 30m2.. The room #1234 was only 12m2. It was small but was kept sparkling clean I must say. We approached the reception that night requesting a bigger room. They promised us an upgrade the next day. Ms.Mariam was very kind and polite, she arranged a bigger room for us. Added the blueprint fyr.. I found it very helpful to compare and understand the rooms. The breakfast buffet was good too. They had healthier options and plenty of food. One of the staff at the buffet who removed used plates from the table kinda abruptly took away an almost empty plate from my table. They could have asked first. But nevertheless, a few others who cleaned later asked us first before removing the plates.
This hotel is definitely not a 5 star. Staff in general were polite and helpful. The room was OK but had no balcony and faced another building which made it feel a bit claustrophobic. There was a roof top terrace but we were told we couldn't be up there after 10.30am which meant we were sitting at the front of the hotel trying to get a bit of sun and fresh air. There was no other outside space. The hotel lacked atmosphere and offered no entertainment. The steam room did not work and the sauna had other peoples belongings left behind(a pair of trainers) and some rubbish. The attendant seemed very uninterested in providing any assistance. The lockers did not lock and we were directed into the male area probably because the female area was a mess. I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and usually I love to have a steam and sauna but one visit put me of. It was so uninviting. Overall my stay there was not a good one and not somewhere I would recommend at all.
🚨 WARNING: AVOID MERCURE ISTANBUL BOMONTI – LUXURY ITEMS “DISAPPEAR” 🚨 As someone who frequently travels for business and privately across Europe, I have come to expect a certain level of professionalism, particularly from a hotel operating under a globally recognized brand like Accor Hotels. Unfortunately, my experience at Mercure Istanbul Bomonti has been profoundly disappointing, raising significant concerns about the handling of guests’ personal belongings and the overall accountability of hotel management. The Incident: • I stayed at Mercure Istanbul Bomonti from February 10-15, 2025. • On the day of checkout (4:30 AM), I unintentionally left a very expensive black DIOR shirt in my room. • Just a few hours later, I contacted the front desk, and they confirmed that my item had been found. • Due to local DHL shipping restrictions, I was unable to arrange a courier myself, so my assistant stepped in. The hotel agreed to ship the item to me at my own expense, which I promptly accepted. • However, after this agreement, all communication from the hotel ceased—emails and calls were ignored, and no further updates were provided regarding my property. Unanswered Questions & Serious Reputational Concerns! At this point, I am left wondering: Why would a hotel refuse to facilitate the return of a guest’s confirmed lost item? Given the circumstances, this raises serious concerns about how personal belongings are handled in this establishment. While I understand that operational delays can occur, what is unacceptable is the complete lack of communication and refusal to uphold a basic standard of service. This is not just a logistical failure—it is a customer service and brand reputation issue.
