Mercure Jakarta Batavia

We had a long flight and stay here before exploring Jakarta. Overall, this hotel location strategic and near attractions place. Walking distance to shops and it had great pool, garden and interior design. Friendly and welcoming staff from the moments we arrived, the security, receptionist and concierge staff. Restaurant provide a lots of local menu. Hotel’s vision on protecting Mother Earth is absolutely amazing.

Hotel is near the old town and museums. It takes about 8 mins to walk but not so easy to cross the road. The room was clean, do take note that the tap water was not drinkable. Overall a pleasant place to stay.The location is pretty windy. Pleasant place to stay with gym, swimming pool, pretty garden and spa.

The hotel is well located from the airport and Kota Tua district (if you want to enjoy the charms of the old days of Jakarta). Nevertheless, while we appreciated the comfort of the rooms, the hotel is oddly set : it is not so easy to spot the reception desk when you enter, you have to cross path of people going out or waiting for others in the lobby. The room cleaning is surprisingly slow : we left room at 0800 in the morning, with the signal on to indicate to the staff that the room was available to clean, and when we were back at 1450, still not done. We had to wait for it, after we asked to the cleaning man to do it. We can appreciate that it might be hard to access easily rooms occupied and to have enough time to do the job but it is unfortunately necessary and a good planning is paramount… About the other people using the hotel, we were there at the same time as several events, with officials as participants. While some were very well behaved, others made us a bit uncomfortable with their attitudes (strange and intense look to women, very loud comments - unfortunately I can speak Bahasa…). The staff is very kind and helpful, you feel welcome and they take time to give all informations needed. We tried the restaurant : the food is very good and tasty, staff, as stated before, is very helpful and takes good care of the customers. Beware of the air conditioning, it is rather strong. In conclusion, the hotel is quite good, with all comfort you need to rest, but it is not what you could fully expect for a 4 stars especially from Accor Group. Two thumbs up (again) for the staff.
