From start to finish, it was an absolute pleasure! I rolled into Kota Kinabalu way before check-in time, and honestly, I was like, “There’s no way they’ll let me check in early.” But the check-in staff were total legends! They totally hooked me up and even said my room just needed a final inspection before it was ready for my arrival. While I waited, they were super chill and suggested I hit up the hotel facilities. Plus, the location? Just perfection! There are dozens of cafes, restaurants, and the coolest spots, like Suria Sabah Mall and Gaya Street, all just a short stroll away. Perfect for a little foodie adventure too! This place was buzzing with travelers from all over the globe! It felt like a little world party! The staff were so accommodating and understanding, making me feel right at home (my utmost criteria). Honestly, I can’t wait to come back to Kota Kinabalu, and you better believe that Mercure is on my must-stay list! If you’re thinking about it, just go for it. You won’t regret it!

The location of the hotel is excellent, and the staff are friendly, approachable, and attentive. However, one notable downside is the design of the bathroom glass door. Due to a large gap, water easily seeps out during showers, causing the area outside the shower to become wet and slippery. This can be quite hazardous, especially when wearing the hotel-provided slippers. I raised this concern with the reception staff, and they were helpful in addressing the issue by arranging for housekeeping to provide an additional floor mat to reduce the risk.

I stayed here for two nights in 2 different rooms: 1. Executive suite This was a great room with a living room and a separate bedroom and lots of space. Great bathroom. 2. The deluxe room This was a small room and the bathroom was not its own room it was within the room and the shower and toilet were in two different compartment it was weird and I hated it. The room didn’t have any towels or bath mats when we went in and the hair dryer was not working so we had to call reception so many times. The breakfast was only okay but good for the price. The executive room is so much better and was only 15 dollars more expensive so if you want a comfortable room especially if you are sharing the room with someone I suggest you take that one. The staff were nice enough to store our luggage while we weren’t around after checkout. There are restaurants and stores right next to and around the hotel. The ac was not very strong in both rooms but worked well enough.
