Mercure Lyon Charbonnieres

The hotel is perfectly located with an exceptional breakfast and good sound-proofing, however I did not feel rested cause of the very old, curvy and creaky bed with the square pillows.

Easy check with lots of emails beforehand advising check in procedures etc. we had confirmed our 2 dogs and 2 children would be staying and this was an easy process to ensure they were included in the booking. Parking is right outside - we were anxious about finding somewhere with height to bring our campervan so this parking, right outside was ideal for us. The outside area is nice. The restaurant was closed but reception were able to recommend a nearby rooftop restaurant which was lovely. The only downside to our room, which was clean and spacious for all 6 of us, was that the Aircon was very weak and it was very hot. Breakfast was ok, setting was nice with outside area and waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Very much a three star place, both rooms we stayed in had lighting faults, and issues in the bathrooms no biggie and the hotel offered alternates but once you’ve installed yourselves tricky to move over the little things. We ate supper here too. Quick service but the order was slightly wrong which was a shame. Breakfast is a free for all but they have good choice and when it’s really busy at the buffet you can see why the staff can’t keep up. There is an orange juicer which is nice.
