I had a great stay at Hôtel Mercure Centre Vieux-Port in Marseille. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped—perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the city. The bar was a nice spot to unwind in the evening, with a good atmosphere and quality drinks. I was also really impressed by the breakfast: plenty of fresh options, delicious pastries, and a great way to start the day. Overall, a very pleasant experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Marseille.
Good hotel in the Vieux Port. Most of the staff at this hotel are helpful. The room was a good size. My only complaint was the breakfast! everything was dry, stale and cold. The coffee even came out of the machine freezing cold. I wouldn’t pay extra for the breakfast. The hotel has a gym and bar area which I enjoyed. I would say this hotel is just ok.
The hotel reception was quick, impersonal and offered zero “tourist” tips, things to do etc. I even had to ask if I could take a map of the city with things to do and see from the counter as it wasn’t offered. The room is a standard, small European room. It was cool and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very usable and clean. Black out curtains provided complete darkness, but even on the eighth floor, emergency vehicle sirens were heard all night long. The lobby bar and lounge area was spacious and comfortable with many seating areas. Included breakfast was the largest, most complete breakfast spread of the hotels were have been in. Delicious and fresh and beautifully presented. The machine brewed coffee however, left us flat. The hotel is located close to the old port and only 14 minutes walk down hill from the train station, however the walk to the hotel from the train was so sketchy and uncomfortable that we decided to uber back to avoid the filthy streets, the uncountable homeless people laying on filthy mattress pads in every corner and the feeling of being sized up. The hotel is surrounded by the beauty of the architecture of the buildings that have been buried by the filth and depravity of addiction and homelessness.
