Wonderful hotel. The free minibar is an added perk. Beds were comfortable and the room was a good size. They were very accommodating. Good for families. The breakfast offers a large selection and is delicious! It is also convenient to the train station. We felt comfortable walking around this area any time of day, despite what some other reviews said.

We had a comfortable stay at Mercure Hotel München. The room was very spacious, which is always a plus in city hotels. A lovely touch was the free minibar, which was well stocked and appreciated. The breakfast spread was generous, with something for everyone – and we loved that you could request fresh waffles on demand. Another convenient feature was the option to rent an umbrella for just 3 euros (valid for 48 hours) – a thoughtful service, especially for unpredictable weather. A couple of minor downsides: When I called the reception to inquire if the tap water was safe to drink, the staff’s response came across as a bit curt, simply saying all tap water in Munich is drinkable and that I should “Google it.” While we’re aware of the general safety of tap water in Germany, questions about water quality are best answered by locals, especially when there are specific concerns (we noticed a slight smell in the bathroom, which prompted the query). That aside, the hotel itself offers great value and amenities. Would definitely recommend for a short or long stay in Munich.

This is 3.5 out of 5, but closer to 3, than 4. Cheerful friendly service is a big plus, and so was a location very convenient to a train station. Services in the bar and restaurant were exceeding expectations. The price was fairly reasonable too. Enjoyed the sort of small courtyard for little wine and chat with F&F in the evening. Now, some negatives. Rooms were well sized and spacious, quite clean too, but old and require updating. The main issue is antiquated A/C system that doesn't work properly. This is not true A/C, more like fan that provides air flow, but doesn't really refrigerate an air inside the room. Interesting: we has exactly the same issue in June in Bologna, Italy where we stayed in June in Mercure. Also, it is busy location, so it was noisy in the mornings for light sleepers, like myself. We had to open windows just to sleep, and the morning noise woke me up. Finally, it is not a great area of Munich, at least on one side the neighborhood is a bit sketchy. Not horrible, bit still. If you walk in the other direction, it is convenient and easy walk to the center.
