Mercure Paris Bastille Saint Antoine

I have stayed here a number of times and I keep returning as I know I will be well looked after by the friendly and helpful Reception staff, from Isabel to Beatrice and Arnaud - they all go out of their way to accommodate any requests you may have. The hotel is next to the outstanding Marché d’Aligre which also has a flea market if you enjoy rummaging through boxes of eclectic items. The breakfast is varied and covers everything you’d expect for a French breakfast but also provides eggs and bacon - I especially enjoyed the crepes! Love, love this hotel!

This hotel is not 4 star, barely makes 3 stars. The room was clean and tidy but the hallway, balcony off the room and the rooftop was dirty (weeds growing everywhere). Not well maintained. For the price I paid for 3 nights, I was very disappointed. The breakfast is served in the basement in a room with no windows. I felt like I was staying in a hostel. Basic food and the waiter was not helpful when I asked if they had olive oil or extra bread. He was grumpy! Beatrice on reception is lovely and very friendly and happy to accommodate any requests. She did upgrade me to a better room when I told her my friend was unable to make the trip and I had already paid for two people. The hotel is in a good location, close to 2 metros and walking distance to le marais and Bastille areas which I loved.

It's unclear why a 3 ft./~89cm. high shower/tub doesn't have a full shower door and a stepladder is baffling. The staff were lovely and the location is excellent if you want to be in a more residential area.
