Spectacular architecture in a duplex room. Complementary mini bar very welcome as well as the delightful honey scented toiletries. Ideal location in town and short walk to train station. Only negative is the room could get a little warm on the upper level (okay for me but not my friend) - something the hotel is obviously trying to actively counter as a blasting new air conditioning unit had been installed by the window which was very much appreciated. (And to be fair, it was a heatwave with temperatures of 37C degrees outside!)
Lovely experience, clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast, all of Portiers in walking distance. Excellent restaurant Les Archives, totally recommend the cocktails and 4 stars for the dinners we had on both nights visiting!
We stayed in what the lovely front desk lady described as the nicest room in the hotel. In 2 months of travel through France and many, many hotel rooms, this is the one I was most looking forward to. And in the end, I was most disappointed by. The hotel is in a converted 19th century Jesuit chapel and has beautiful interiors. Our room was built into the nave of the old chapel. And this part was really beautiful. In fact, that is the only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 3. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the choice of pillows, especially that there was a range from firm to very soft. There was a large desk and two comfortable armchairs in our very spacious room. However, all the furniture was quite cheap and tacky looking. The carpet was quite old. The open bathroom was very attractive but not practical. There was a really nice tub. However, the shower was above and, since the stylish tub had very high sides, it was difficult stepping in and out. Also, the glass door enclosure wasn’t balanced properly so there was a gap and there was no way to keep the floor from getting soaked with every shower. Housekeeping was very mediocre and it was particularly annoying that they didn’t replace used cups and glasses. I wanted to love this room, I expected it to be lush and romantic in keeping with the setting. But instead it felt like a 2-star room in a 5-star building.
