Mercure Siracusa Prometeo

We stayed here for 2 weeks while a relative was in the hospital. The hotel was chosen for it's location, quality of the restaurant, rooftop deck, and the fact that much of the staff spoke English. We could not have picked a better spot. Everyone we interacted with at the hotel (front desk, restaurant, housekeeping, etc) was beyond nice and accommodating. They took care of all our needs and helped brainstorm ideas when needed. The rooftop deck was the perfect place to take breaks as we didn't have long periods to venture farther. The restaurant was lovely and has a huge menu that kept us happy for the whole trip. The breakfast was particularly large and yummy. Although the location is not as close to the heart of the tourist district as some might want, it was still close enough to walk there (and is very close to 2 sets of ruins). We highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is very impersonal. The interior design aged poorly and rooms too. The bathtubs with water streams need urgent replacement. They just look so bad that I decided to only shower. Location is only good if you intend to visit the archeo site. Free parking just next to the hotel is a great thing. Very easy to find free spots in the evening. For restaurants and bars in Ortigia it is a bit too much to walk. And when you drive, you get to have to put up with traffic, parking and limiting your alcohol intake. :) Warm breakfast options are bad (watery eggs, suspiciously looking cut up hot dog type sausages in particular). The fruit an vegetables are ok. WiFi is quite slow. I would avoid staying there again and advise anyone interested to choose a different hotel.

BED BUGS IN THE ROOMS – STAY AWAY! I stayed at this hotel from June 14 to June 20, 2025. At first, everything seemed fine — but it quickly turned into a nightmare. Bed bugs were found in not one, but two different rooms I was given during my stay. Management refused to refund me despite the completely ruined experience. The photos I’m sharing are real, with date and location clearly documented. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Extremely disappointing and unacceptable.
