We visited the Methuen for a meal with family. I had mentioned in the booking that one of our party was a child and a children's menu had been put on the table plus a high chair for the baby. The staff were very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They gave recommendations when requested. We all enjoyed our meals, the dishes were well presented, tasty and the portions were generous. All the service was excellent. I would definitely return for another meal.

Lovely pub and location, visited for food and drinks a few times over a weeks holiday in the area. No problem with the food, however, a bit pricey. The complaint is not about the price of the food as it was our choice to eat at the pub. What I didn't expect was to be slapped with a service charge and not to be informed of the charge. Didn't see anything about this on the menu and not charged other days. Service charges should be a choice and customers should be informed. Food was already expensive and on this occasion the service was not outstanding.

went for a meal before heading to the pound and was very disappointed. waited for about 15 minutes for our drinks and our food arrived around 40 minutes after we ordered. my aperol spritz tasted very weak, almost like it was just soda water. the lady who served us was lovely and when i asked where are food was she went to check and brought it out immediately. it was definitely sat under the heat lamp for a while as our food was barely warm and the onion rings were completely cold. even after they were recooked, they were greasy and flavourless. i ordered the sweetcorn gnocchi and was very upset with what i received. i had half a plate of food which comprised of sweetcorn purée, grilled sweetcorn and sweetcorn “gnocchi” although it was more like a deep fried sweetcorn croquette. too much sweetcorn! and just to make my meal even better- it cost £17!! unbelievably overpriced food for very low quality. we were late to the event we were going to even after rushing our food down because of the wait. it’s never nice to feel forgotten about- if you can’t handle the capacity, don’t accept the customers.
