The Hotel is clean but needs to be maintained, prices are way above the other hotels in the vicinity of the Chruch. Water issues remain a concern and apart from the towels need good cleaning, the water quality sucks, last 3 days we have yellow water been supplied for shower. Breakfast is good, however food served in the restaurant is priced way above the average compared to other hotels. Staff is very good and did provide hot water in buckets when there is no hot water. Quiet place and if price is balanced and hotel is maintained then it should be 4 Star rated.
# Decent Location but Overpriced - Could Be Better I recently stayed at MGM Velankanni Residency and have mixed feelings about the experience. The hotel is conveniently located on the main road, which makes it accessible, though the church requires a short drive. If you’re planning to walk, the distance is quite considerable. The property itself is smaller than what the professional photos on Agoda and Google might suggest. It features one restaurant and a small pool, which covers the basic amenities. Our deluxe room was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate three adults, so no complaints there regarding room size. However, the pricing feels significantly inflated for what you receive. The rates they charge don’t align with the value provided, likely due to limited accommodation options in the area and the MGM brand premium. The food quality is average at best and similarly overpriced for what’s offered. On the positive side, the hospitality staff operates efficiently, and I appreciated the additional services like car cleaning and EV charging availability. These thoughtful touches show attention to guest convenience. While the stay was manageable, the cost-to-value ratio makes it difficult to recommend. I would likely explore other options for future visits to the area. The hotel serves its purpose but doesn’t justify the premium pricing in my experience.
Went for lunch. Chiken pasta and prawn masala were good. Eggplant curry was too sweet, mocktails and fresh fruit juice were too sugary. Restrooms though neat needs a lot of of maintenance . Toilet seats not good, no tissue paper or hand dryer.
