From start to finish, our experience was seamless and exceeded all our expectations. Booking the resort was a breeze; we decided to take matters into our own hands and went directly through the hotel rather than using an agent. To our delight, the reservation process took a mere two minutes over the phone, and we were pleasantly surprised when they did not require payment until we arrived at the hotel. This level of trust immediately set a positive tone for our trip. After arriving at Mia Reef, we quickly realized that this resort stands out in comparison to others we had recently experienced. The buffet service was exceptional—well-organized, diverse, and attentive to detail. Our meals were enjoyable, and the staff made sure we were well taken care of, enhancing our overall dining experience. We were particularly grateful for the warm hospitality extended by the receptionists—Rich, Andrea, Nancy, and Liliana. Their friendliness and professionalism made the check-in and check-out processes incredibly smooth and stress-free, allowing us to focus on enjoying our vacation. Mia Reef is perfect for families seeking a quiet and restful getaway. The ambiance is serene, allowing us to unwind fully and create lasting memories. This was absolutely not the luxury resort we thought we were booking. My two girlfriends and I reserved this place for a four-day bachelorette trip, expecting a high-end, all-inclusive villa. What we got was a total nightmare. We called ahead to request early check-in—no big deal when it wasn’t ready—but things went downhill fast. When we arrived, we were told the resort had overbooked and they’d have to bring in an extra mattress for us. It showed up with one thin sheet and a roller cart to move it around. No blanket, no proper setup. If we wanted the room with two actual beds (like we originally booked), we’d have to check out the next day at 12 and wait around until 3 PM to check back in. Seriously? The room itself was in terrible shape—chipped paint, worn walls, and nothing close to the “luxury” vibe advertised. But the worst part? The walk to the villas was completely covered in bird poop. The area is basically a bird sanctuary, but no one tells you that. There were birds everywhere. It was disgusting—the smell, the mess, the droppings all over the walkways. It felt unsanitary and honestly unsafe. On top of that, the resort isn’t truly all-inclusive. Some restaurants were closed, others had super limited hours, and the staff couldn’t care less. When we raised our concerns, they laughed at us. Not even an apology—just rude and dismissive attitudes. We lasted a hour before canceling the reservation and booking a different hotel. Save yourself the stress and stay far away from this place.

I reported the incident immediately, expecting a professional investigation. Instead, the hotel’s response was completely unsatisfactory. I was told they would look into it and get back to me after speaking with the staff who had accessed our room. They never contacted me again. No follow-up. No explanation. No accountability. This is absolutely unacceptable — especially from a hotel that claims to be five stars. As someone who values and contributes to online reviews, I believe it’s essential we help each other make informed decisions. Just as I rely on reviews when choosing a hotel, I hope mine will help others be cautious and fully aware of what to expect. Aside from the theft, I must be honest: this is not a five-star hotel in any real sense. Anyone who has stayed at a true five-star property will notice the difference immediately. What you’re really paying for here is the view — and nothing else. • The food is average at best. • Facilities are very basic, with many areas poorly maintained. • Amenities are extremely limited — some don’t even exist. • Staff experience is inconsistent: some were kind and helpful, while others were disengaged or unwilling to assist. • The overall state of the hotel reflects neglect and a serious lack of upkeep. I will never return, and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. If you value your belongings, your peace of mind, and a truly high-quality experience — look elsewhere.
