Our stay at Minos Hotel gave us mixed feelings. On the positive: the staff was incredibly welcoming, notably the cleaning staff that were super efficient and cleaning every day. The room was well equipped (despite being a bit small) and the shower was amazing. There was a very nice external rack to dry clothes. The hotel had a lot of amenities around and is right in front of the beach. The big plus for us was definitely the Children Pool, which made us have a lot of fun with our child. On the negative: the hotel always felt pretty crowded and the main pool was always very busy, except before closing. A big minus was the pool schedule: it opened at 10:30am and closed at 18:30, which is pretty tight for a holiday hotel. The breakfast was varied but quality wasn't great. Location-wise, despite having everything around, it was still 30 minutes from the old town by foot. Also, a big downside is the fact that this felt like a "family party" hotel: there was loud music every day until late at night (11pm) so we could not rely rest until then. All in all, if you are looking for a family trip with a lot of socialization, give it a go...but not if you are desiring a restful and comfortable stay.
I wouldn’t consider this a 4-star hotel—more like a solid 3-star on a good day. The reception staff were kind and helpful, which we appreciated. Some of the waiters were nice too, but others made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, which really threw off the vibe. The breakfast buffet was decent, nothing special. The dinner buffet, though, was pretty underwhelming. That said, we loved the fruit selection—easily the highlight of the meals. Still, overall, it didn’t feel worth the money. The hotel is clearly geared toward families. If you’re traveling with kids and enjoy magic shows, kitschy belly dancing, and a DJ playing ABBA and Pitbull on Fridays—this might be your thing. But as a couple, we wouldn’t recommend it. All in all, we didn’t have a bad experience—just not the one we expected. The 4-star rating set our hopes too high, and most things fell short. For the price, you can definitely find better nearby.
Unfortunately it was a crappy experience from start to finish. Rooms are up to 3 streets away from where the hotel’s main lobby is. We were kept waiting in the lobby for 2-3 hours for the check in while they were ‘sorting out’ some confusion with the reservation not having registered (of course payment has registered correctly tho 😅). We only got the room after having asked about it countless times, so they weren’t even bothered enough to come tell us themselves that they sorted out the problem. We would’ve likely been waiting longer if we weren’t proactive about it. The restaurant manager somehow decided we were feeling too welcomed the next day at breakfast so he decided to make a scene about us having taken a 4 person table right next to the pool instead of a 2 person one. (We came as a couple and there were no 2 seats tables at the pool side). Strangely enough, the whole restaurant was empty since we usually eat breakfast very early. Even stranger, he did not argue with anyone else about this same issue throughout our stay. We got a room 3 streets away from where the hotel lobby is. Lastly, the hotel is still expanding at the time of writing so expect noise. A complete deal breaker. Plus the entire city aside from the seaside front street is a dumpster. Dirty, poorly maintained buildings.
