Mintrops Land Hotel Burgaltendorf

Booked this hotel as a stopover as wanted somewhere pet and child friendly, but I feel this would be a hotel I would happily book for a longer stay. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast options were great. There was a small children's play area with books and toys that came as a nice surprise, and the pool area was lovely with sauna and massage bed. The charges for the dog (€20) were more than I have seen at other hotels, but the hotel provides a very good service (including dog bowl, towels, extra poo bags if needed) that I feel they can perhaps justify the additional fees. Also note that an extra bed in a standard room will set you back €35 but the base room price is reasonable for the service you get, so again is perhaps justified. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a suite due to overbooking so this was a nice surprise as we had doors with direct access to a little patio area. I like that the hotel provided basic soap and body wash in refillable dispensers but offered free toiletries from the desk if you needed them. I like to see hotels cutting back on waste in what ways they can so this was great. The castle and town centre were only a short walk away and we were able to get food in town easily so did not try the hotel restaurant on this occasion but the menu sounded lovely.

Excellent. Good, fast and friendly service. Nice rooms, surprisingly quiet place. Rural surrounding in the mid of Ruhrgebiet. Very tasty and good food, wellness area well kept, very clean and pool big enough space to swim. Highly recommended if you want to switch off from daily challenges - great hide away place with excellent connectivity to cultural highlights and city life.

Avoid this hotel if it’s possible!!!! We were attending on a wedding, which took place in this hotel, therefore we booked a room in it too. The ceremony started at 3pm, therefore we arrived just after noon. But as the check in is officially from 3pm, we had to pay extra 30 EUR, as for early check in! They knew we are one of the guests for the wedding and they didn’t help us having an early check in for free of charge. Then next day, when we check out, they added 28 EUR for breakfast&Wlan! Who pays in 2020 extra money for WiFi??????? And we haven’t even had breakfast, as we woke up at 10am after the party, and breakfast finishes by 10am, so we paid for nothing! And the lady at the reception is super rude! She hung the phone on us when we called before our arrival and she did exactly the same thing with some others on the phone while we were checking in! And the room design is terrible! The pictures which are on booking.com and on their website, just simply had nothing to do with reality! And when we asked for a different room, they claims that they are fully booked!
