We absolutely love this beautiful, family-owned boutique hotel in the Adirondacks. We’ve been coming here for ten years, and each visit reminds us why we return. The rooms are gorgeous, with breathtaking views of Mirror Lake. I’ve stayed both in a lakeside room and in the main hotel, and each has its own charm. The staff—who come from all over the world—are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming to every guest. Their attention to detail is remarkable; when we had a squeaky bathroom door, it was fixed within minutes. This is the kind of service that makes you feel truly cared for. One of the things I appreciate most is that while the inn is very family-friendly, it also values a respectful atmosphere. They welcome children warmly but do not tolerate disruptive behavior—which, as a mother of three young kids, I fully support. Children should learn to be polite, respectful, and adhere to rules, especially in public spaces. The spa is a serene sanctuary, reserved for spa guests only, allowing for complete relaxation. Fresh cookies and coffee are always waiting in the lobby, a small but wonderful touch. The pools are immaculate, the food is consistently delicious at both breakfast and dinner, and the private beach is impeccably maintained. Each morning, I either used the well-equipped gym or swam across the lake (about 0.5 miles each way) directly from the hotel’s beach—though, of course, swimming is at your own risk, as there are no lifeguards. For a casual lunch or easy dinner, The Cottage restaurant offers a simple, reliable menu that never changes but always satisfies. Yes, this is a boutique luxury property, so expect to pay more—but the experience, quality, and care make it worth every penny. Mirror Lake Inn is a true gem, and we can’t wait for our next visit.
This hotel could be nice, unfortunately, it is dark, dreary, and in desperate need of a complete renovation to bring it up to date. We were put in a room advertised as having a mountain and lake view, but any view was completely obscured by tall bushes in front of our sliding doors/ narrow balcony. I asked the front desk to bring us another lamp or two to lighten up the room, and while I was told to expect them shortly, they never brought the lamps. I found myself wanting to leave the hotel and especially the room, as it was so shabby and even a bit depressing. Sorry, I couldn’t say anything positive, but there is nothing positive to say. This is the first time I’ve ever left a truly negative review.
This hotel is solely in business because of its location. It is the most run down Inn I have ever been to, it literally ruined my family vacation. I spoke to the management about great big stains on the carpets and was told that was how they liked it because the owners said it added charm! What!!!! it was decorated in 1970 and not touched since, beware seriously.
