Walking distance from main bus terminal snd shopping district. Room was decent size, clean with needed amenities. Staffs are very friendly. Afternoon complimentary drink service was a plus. If you are a fan of the popular Kumamon bear, the hotel also offer bear themed room for your enjoyment.
My recent stay at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kumamoto had both positives and negatives. **Pros:** - The location is convenient, making it easy to explore the area. - The car park staff was helpful, which made our arrival and departure smooth. **Cons:** - The hotel facilities feel a bit aged. The air conditioner in our room malfunctioned, which was quite uncomfortable. - We encountered a significant issue with the bathtub; it was clogged, causing water to overflow in the bathroom. We had to wait for it to unclog before we could finish our bath, which was frustrating. - I was disappointed with the hotel's policy regarding families. We were traveling with two adults and a 6-year-old child, and despite explaining that our child could share a bed with us, my kid is unwilling to sleep alone while we accept to pay additional charge for kid . The reception staff insisted on charging an extra bed fee $5500 yen and changing our room type to triple bed room. However, this was not our experience at other hotels in Japan, where such policies were more accommodating.
No soundproofing at all. I can hear my neighbour drop their phone on the ground lol. Up at night writing this because it’s hard to sleep with all the noise I can hear. The soundproofing is so bad I thought it was my husband waking up LOL I’m really not that picky about hotels but the one and ONLY thing hotels should get right is providing a good nights sleep but hearing your neighbours walk and talk is failing at the basics. Also no fan in the bathroom is a little weird. AC is weak. Makes for a hot and humid room after showering but that’s okay Pros: lovely staff and location. Clean. Video of my neighbours closing a drawer probably. (Obviously louder in real life) They’re just doing normal things but I can hear everything .. great for spying :)
