Mittagong Homestead & Cottages

Spent 8 days at Merlewood, a great location from which to cycle the great Victorian Rail Trail. The cottage has many great features, the spa, a big swimming pool, tennis court, hi speed wifi and the usual basics. We really enjoyed the quiet country surroundings, loads of fresh air and animals and birds abound. The nearby towns have everything. Great coffee to be had Alexandra, Mansfield and Yark. Merlewood at todays prices is outstanding value.

We had a lovely stay at Mittagong Homestead. Hosts are very friendly and helpful and plenty of good hikes in the area. Definitely recommended for a relaxing getaway.

From the website, it appeared that the entire cottage was the accommodation. However, when i arrived i found that it was just half the cottage. The other half is an office which is used every day by the owner. The swimming pool is right infront of the owner's house. Therefore, overall lack of privacy was an issue. Cleaning was inadequate after the previous visitor as there was popcorn and dirt under the sofa. There's mould on some of the bathroom tiles. The flyscreen was broken, so lots of insects and mozzies got into the accommodation. Overall i didn't enjoy the stay. I booked for 2 weeks but only stayed for 1 week and couldn't get a refund.
