Moller Villa Hotel Shanghai

This fairytale-like mansion’s turrets contain a hidden astronomical observatory—its original brass telescope tracked Jupiter’s moons in the 1930s. The stained glass windows were made using medieval European techniques, with cobalt oxide creating that distinctive blue. Beneath the ballroom, a forgotten wine cellar’s brickwork bears imprints from textile mills that once stood nearby. The current hotel preserves a peculiar tradition: room keys are still attached to weighted Nordic-style keychains.

A perfect hotel with an amazing history. Every things inside and outside are stunning, with good taste. Standard room is compact, comfortable and very clean. Service is perfect. The breakfast is unforgettable rich and delicious! You will enjoy your staying there like in a museum. Hotel staff offered to upgrade the room for free considering my long staying but I still chose the standard one because it's much more comfortable. The location is in the center of the old historic town and very convenient. The hotel entrance is a little bit unobtrusive so you should be concentrate to avoid missing it .

The hotel is made up of two different buildings with two different receptions. We stayed in building 2, not so fascinating compared to building 1. Location is ok but consider that at night the streets of Shanghai are packed and therefore to get to the bund and back could be painful and expensive. Breakfast is ok, please consider that it is better to ask to be seated in the garden or in the private area where normally Chinese people are given the possibility to seat. Service is good, the people at the reception are willing to succeed in Giving information even if the level of English is not high.
