We stayed in Monotel Hotel for business trip for couple of weeks so had time to use all facilities this Hotel can offer. We stayed in New wing were the rooms were new, modern furbished, bathroom with shower and view towards fence, other colleagues had yard view were there is some garden with flowers...arround entrance area and second yard has also nice greenery with palm trees and pool used for guests. Breakfast is good choice of variety of pastries, fruits, vegetable, cheese, hams, eggs etc. Lunch and dinner is ala card menu...during our stay we tried almost every dish from menu and almost all of them were delicious. We also appreciated cocktails menu including juices. Staff is speaking French and Arabic but some of them speak English so we were able to communicate. Rooms are not equipped with kettle or iron but can be provided from reception. Laundry service were working except Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is also security staff at entrance but Hotel can be visited also from not staying guests as they provide also conference rooms for business meetings. Only problem were mosquitoes which were active all day and specialy in evenings and some of colleagues having rooms on ground floor found cockroaches in our room. Cleaning was provided almost every day but some of us wishing more privacy opted for not so often room service. Generally the hotel is fine there is always some ongoing reconstruction in public parts so can be noisy sometimes. Hotel has also gym but is bit neglected as not many guests using in in this hot climate.

Let's be honest, there is not exactly a huge amount to do or see in Nouakchott, so it is just as well to have a nice hotel to hang out in. The Monotel perfectly fits the bill. The hotel is very conveniently located for the embassy district, right next to the huge French Embassy complex. There are plenty of shops restaurants and cafes nearby. The hotel itself is very pleasant, tastefully decorated and very spacious, including the rooms. There is a very nice pool area, where one can hang out, and lots of pleasant seating-areas to crash out in. The restaurant is especially good, with great food and service. Everything I and my colleague tried was good. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Overall this is a very nice hotel. I will certainly stay there next time I find myself in Nouakchott

Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. Outrageous that this is the most expensive hotel in Nouakchott. There’s absolutely nothing even 2-star about this place; 4-stars is a joke. Rooms are old, worn and dirty, lacking even basic amenities like a coffee maker. Guests are issued a single thin old towel, how four star! Restaurant menu items are blocked out with electric tape and price stickers from the market with handwritten prices. So cheap and embarrassing. This place is also not really that secure, I walked in and out skipping the metal detector and no one screened my luggage. Anyone can waltz into this place. Nouakchott isn’t really dangerous anyway so stay at the Hotel Hiba or Semiramis instead. Far cheaper, way nicer and newer, and better value.
