Monte da Japonica

This place is an absolute gem! Surrounded by stunning cork trees, breathtaking nature, and complete silence, it’s the perfect escape from everyday life. The house itself is a charming, historic building full of character and soul. What made the experience truly special were the hosts — some of the warmest and kindest people I’ve ever met. They took care of us with so much love and attention, and you can truly feel their passion in every detail of the place. It was the perfect location for our Yoga Teacher Training, but I can also imagine it being magical for weddings, retreats, celebrations of all kinds, or just a peaceful, unforgettable vacation. My husband, mother and I enjoyed a week at Monte Da Japonica in August 2025. We were delighted by the setting on an old cork farm amongst rolling hills in a 200 year old farm house. The host went out of his way to suggest daily outings to nearby towns, castles, markets etc, a tour of the cork farm and wonderful places to eat. A highlight was the infinity pool, keeping us refreshed in the Portuguese heat.

Our family of four had an unforgettable stay in this beautiful cottage in the heart of Redondo, Alentejo. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the peaceful surroundings and the charm of the traditional architecture, which felt authentically tied to the region’s heritage. The infinity pool was a true highlight — perfectly maintained, with sweeping views that made every swim feel like a little piece of paradise. The whole property radiated a sense of slow living; no rush, no noise, just calm days under the Alentejo sun. Everything was immaculate, from the spotless interiors to the well-kept outdoor spaces. The thoughtful details made us feel both at home and transported to a simpler, more serene way of life. We left completely recharged and are already planning our return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for beauty, quiet, and authenticity in the Alentejo countryside.
