Monte Filipe Hotel & Spa

Nice hotel in a quiet location just outside the small village. The room was nice and the breakfast buffet ok. There was some traffic in the corridor to my room from mostly ladies in barhrobes going to or coming from the spa area in the basement. Funny.

This is a nice hotel that has a good ratio between price and quality. The rooms are great and the surrounds are also ok. The breakfast is good enough and the food is fresh and well served. On the downside, there were some problems during our stay. First of all, the external swimming pool - in our case, it was completely impossible to keep our eyes open while we were swimming our diving, due to the large amount of chlorine on the water. The other issue that we noticed is the apparent lack of staff on the hotel. Maybe we were simply unlucky on our stay period, because the hotel has a great potencial.

We came just for the spa as we read some good reviews on it. So the truth is its one of the worst spa places I have ever been to. There is no light in the bathroom. Needed to go to ask. The is no water cooler. The Turkish sauna wasn't working. We asked for help but the service guy was helpless. The swimming pool that is outdoors was dirty... it's funny that the lady in the reception told us we can try. The sauna and jacuzzi were ok...
