Overall is a good course, front nine harder than the back nine in my opinion. Course was in very good condition. Bit harder sand than usual in some bunkers due to heavy rain on days prior to play. But the bunkers that didn't receive that much water had a lot of sand and it was nice to play from. Greens were running fast and true, and not playing that firm. On the other hand course was indeed playing quite firm so you could get a nice roll from your tee shots and extra yardage. Course staff were very friendly and welcoming, really interested in you having a good experience in playing the course. Only thing I'd suggest is marshalls being out there to ensure flow and pace of play, and make sure people are let through. Played 13 holes stuck behind a two ball that was holding another one ball ahead and myself also playing as a one ball.

Monte Rei Golf Course is getting back to its former glories. We were here a year ago and this magnificent track was in a sorry state. A wet winter and new owners have clearly made a huge difference. We had a fabulous day. As ever, all the staff are top notch and the service is faultless. I have no doubt that if the progress continues MR will regain its position as one of Portugal's top courses. We thank them and wish them well. We look forward to returning again soon.

Great service and some beautiful views but that's about it. The course is in bad conditions- tons of dead grass on the course and sanded greens. There was no communication or discount regarding the sanded greens which is pretty standard at most courses. The layout was awful and borderline unfair (e.g. the approach on #13 and #18 are just silly). Five Par 3s with low variation on yardage don't really make sense to me. The worst part was the golf carts that you're required to take. The amount of ads and notifications that you have to press the screen to get back to the digital scorecard are awful. I saw the "please repair your divots" notice about 20 times during the round.
