Monte Rosa

We had an enjoyable stay here. It wasn't busy when we arrived in late June, so they upgraded us to an apartment. As other reviews have said, the interiors are a bit dated but bathroom was quite modern. Friendly receptionist arranged taxis for us and allowed us to check-in early. Really enjoyed the pool, there are sunbeds available with great views. Dinner was OK, good portions but very slow service as there were only two servers. Arrive early for breakfast or else food will get cold. The start to wolf trail and information centre is a short 5-minute walk away.

I knew the hotel wasn’t going to be the nicest but I figured based on the mixed reviews that it would be fine enough in order to stay within the park for a night. Now having stayed here, I feel like many of the past reviews aren’t accurate as of July 2025. I want to be a fair evaluator but future guests should know the hotel is very run down and dirty - the carpets are stained, we found old socks under our bed suggesting it hasn’t been cleaned under there, one of the towels in our room was dirty upon arriving and there is literal junk being stored where it appears the change room for the gym used to be. The basement where the gym and playroom is, is pretty disgusting by any hospitality standards. At breakfast, we saw one of the staff grab a fork by the parts you eat with, open a bag with it and then put it back where guests could use it. Everything is just sort of dirty on the whole and the staff didn’t give me confidence that typical sanitary practices occur. That said, we actually had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. The pizza and salad were way above our expectations given the rest of the hotel, and the servers are all very sweet. This hotel could be so nice if they updated it and many of the staff are trying their best to make it a nice experience but unfortunately, the whole time, I felt like I was kind of dirty and I couldn’t wait to move to our next hotel.

Only came for a lunch pitstop so can't say much about the hotel itself. Outdoor location is nice, but the value for money is terrible. Very expensive and slow service. We paid 11 euros for a charcuterie board which was 3 slices of cheese, 3 pieces of prosciutto and a few olives (no bread or condiments). On top of the overpriced items, they make you pay a taxable cover charge.
