We highly recommend The Monument Hotel! It’s rare for us to leave a hotel without any major suggestions for improvement, but our stay here was truly excellent. From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their competence and the prompt, smooth check-in process. Our room was exceptionally spacious, beautifully sound-insulated, and we loved having our own private balcony. A thoughtful bonus was the complimentary selection of juices, soft drinks, and popcorn in the mini-bar—a really nice touch. The only minor downsides were a leaky toilet and the dry iron (we personally prefer a steam iron), but these small issues didn’t take away from an otherwise wonderful experience. Breakfast was definitely a highlight. They served one of the best Eggs Benedict we've ever had, alongside delicious pastries, fresh granola, and excellent coffee. Although I was initially disappointed that the mixed juices I had been looking forward to weren’t available, the staff went above and beyond by preparing a special ginger and lemon tea for me instead. Overall, The Monument Hotel offered a memorable and luxurious stay. We would absolutely return!
The location of this hotel was perfect, and both the concierge and housekeeping teams delivered excellent service. Unfortunately, my check-in experience left a lot to be desired. When I arrived, the front desk agent was holding my passport and still managed to enter my name incorrectly. She then told me I was at the wrong hotel. I calmly explained that I was certain I was in the right place and provided my reservation confirmation. After reviewing it, she suddenly found my name on a printed list that had been sitting there all along. Without acknowledging the error, she handed me the paper and continued the check-in process—no apology, no accountability. I couldn’t help but wonder why she was so quick to try to send me elsewhere. While I tried not to let my mind spiral, a simple apology would’ve been the professional and respectful thing to offer. To make matters worse, a couple who arrived after me was checked in and headed to their room before my own check-in was completed. After an exhausting 8-hour flight and multiple Ubers, this lack of professionalism made an already long day feel even heavier. This experience was disappointing, especially considering how great everything else about the hotel was. First impressions matter, and this one unfortunately missed the mark.
This is definitely a luxury boutique hotel (smaller than you think, not a large hotel) that is designed well and is super modern. The best part of the hotel without a doubt is the staff. Everyone I came across was great, friendly and willing to help. That is quite rare. The rooms are really nice, spacious (we had the family suite, 2 rooms and was absolutely massive). My issue though was they were a little dark (not much natural light) and there is the underground train below (you can hear even from 3rd floor) so every minute you'll hear a rumble. It may not bother everyone, but for sensitive sleepers it might. So be aware of that. The breakfast was great, food quality good and the terrace quite tight, but also quite well put together. Overall 4/5 for me!
