Moody Gardens Hotel Spa and Convention Center

I wish I could have given this hotel a better star rating, but we had some issues this trip. In the past, our experiences with this hotel have been pretty good. But, when we stayed this past May (may 3rd weekend), the quality of service has gone down hill. Mostly with the upkeep and monitoring of their pool. It was dirty, trash everywhere, and not taken care of at all. Some folks were trying to fight each other and cussing loudly in front of all the kids. There wasn't an employee in sight. This went on for about 20 minutes. Just overall not impressed this visit. Room was just okay, not bad. I think next time we want to visit Moody Gardens, we'll just stay at another hotel on the island... especially for the price we paid.

I had no problems with this hotel until this morning. After an amazing night out in Galveston, I was woken up this morning by a woman in all black entering my hotel room. If I did not have the safety lock on she would have been completely in my room. Whoever this woman was received a mouthful from me as I jumped up upon hearing my door open as I was sleeping. I do not play with my safety and I let this woman know she had no business walking into an occupied room at 9am. Check out is at 12. She had no housekeeping cart with her, nothing than just wearing all black and she had access to my hotel room. I called housekeeping management and let them know there are too many children staying in this hotel for their “housekeepers” to not know which room is occupied or vacant. Women are predators too, and there is no reason for this woman to be lurking around the hotel at 9am trying to gain access to occupied hotel rooms. Waking up to a stranger opening your hotel door and attempting to walk in is a terrifying way to start your day and an experience I 100% do not recommend.

I have completed my review in detail, directly to the email the hotel sent me after my stay and they never contacted me. That’s how much they care about your business. The room was not ready at check-in time and had to wait 30 minutes. I reserved a specific room and they weren’t able to accommodate me, they end up giving me a completely different room. Front desk manager is rude and seems to hate her job; she seems to be bothered every time you talk to her. Rooms weren’t clean and some lights were out. Other than the front desk experience and service, all attractions and restaurant were all good. Probably won’t be staying at this hotel again next time I visit Moody Gardens.
