We had a wonderful stay at Morena Boutique! The hotel offers a stunning beach view that made every morning feel like a dream. It has a very cozy and peaceful atmosphere—perfect for a relaxing getaway. What truly made our experience special were the owners and the staff. The owners are incredibly nice and friendly, always around with a warm smile and happy to help with anything we needed. Their personal touch really made us feel welcome and at home. The rest of the staff were just as kind and attentive. One of the highlights of our stay was the in-house massage service. A local lady visits the hotel to offer massages, and she is absolutely amazing—professional, calming, and very skilled. It was the perfect way to unwind. Morena Boutique is a hidden gem, offering genuine hospitality, comfort, and a breathtaking beachside setting. We’d definitely love to return!
We originally planned to stay at this hotel for just one week, but we ended up extending our stay twice — that should say it all! The breakfast is excellent, with plenty of fresh options to choose from. But the real highlight is the view: the surf spot is just 10 meters from the hotel, and watching the waves from our room or the terrace was simply incredible. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxed stay with unbeatable beach access.
I regret to say that my stay at this hotel in Midigama, Sri Lanka, was a highly disappointing experience, and I would strongly recommend potential guests to look elsewhere. While the price per night is on par with European hotel rates, the overall experience did not come close to justifying this cost. Upon arrival, my towels were not ready, and I was informed they would be delivered once clean towels arrived. However, they weren’t brought to my room until late in the evening after I had to specifically request them. To make matters worse, the next day, the room wasn’t cleaned at all. It took another request for housekeeping to finally attend to the room. The situation with the sliding door was another issue. When I tried to open it, it was extremely stiff, and the handle broke off in my hand. I had to call the reception to have it fixed, and for the rest of the day, the room had a strong smell of glue. Adding to my frustration, the room was plagued with ants—there were even ants in the bed, which made the stay very uncomfortable. The hotel is quite isolated, with no nearby amenities, so it’s only really suitable for those who don’t need easy access to transportation. It’s far from both Ahangama and Weligama, and there’s nothing around the hotel, which makes it inconvenient for guests wanting to explore the area. Another issue to be aware of is the lack of ATMs in Midigama. Make sure to bring enough cash because if you choose to pay by card, they apply an additional surcharge to cover transaction fees—something that I did not encounter at any of the other hotels I stayed at in SriLanka. During my stay there were múltiple maintaince work and the place was busy/ noises even early in the morning. Furthermore, the number of sunbeds available at the hotel is nowhere near enough for the number of guests. If you arrive late to the pool or beach, you’ll find that all sunbeds are already occupied. The only positive aspect of this hotel was the staff—they were friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, this does not make up for the numerous issues I faced during my stay. Based on the condition of the hotel and the lack of attention to guest comfort, I do not believe the price paid was at all justified.
