Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh by The Unlimited Collection

We stayed here as a family and had a great experience at Hotel Mount Royal in Edinburgh. We booked a Classic Room with two single beds, which was comfortable and clean. The location is fantastic—right on Princes Street—with a beautiful view from our room overlooking Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, and other landmarks. It’s also very close to Edinburgh Waverley Station, which made getting around very easy. The room was cozy, and the view from the window was definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The entrance does have a few steps, which might be a problem for some guests, though there is a lift available for wheelchair users. Reception is located one floor above ground level and can be accessed via stairs or an elevator. The only small downside was that there was no fridge in the room. Other than that, everything was great, and we would definitely consider staying here again.

Mount Royal Hotel was chosen mainly for location. Being on Princes street it is great for walking to any part of Edinburgh. As with most Edinburgh hotel, much easier to stay if you don't travel by car. The hotel itself is good quality, rooms aren't enormous, but that is normal for large city. Everything clean and well appointed including the bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, so mich choice from the buffet and great service. The bar is also good and the staff are very helpful. Would definitely recommend. There was some building work on the nearby buildings, but this didn't affect our stay.

The location was excellent, tram, bus, and train access was very convenient, and the city bus tour stop was also nearby. Many key attractions, like the Castle and the old market area, were within walking distance. However, the washroom, especially the shower area, could be improved. There were exposed hot pipes, which felt unsafe. Aside from that, the staff were friendly and everything else was good.
