Moxy London Excel

A standard Moxy, but without the fun! Design wise, this fits the Marriott Moxy template. Bedrooms are compact, clean, comfortable and basic. The bedroom TV is very good, as is the WiFi. En-suites are also small, but stylish. Breakfast is good, but not included in all rates. However, one thing lets this hotel down a bit… Moxy is supposed to be the affordable, cool, hip and trendy Marriott brand. However, the reception / bar staff at this hotel just don’t make you feel that welcome or create a good vibe. Other Moxy hotels do create a cool vibe, where people want to hang out, but not here. I’ve stayed twice, because of the reasonable price, but I really wish the staff would go to more effort to create the atmosphere which other Moxy hotels manage to. Marriott Bonvoy loyalty isn’t well recognised, which the hotel could easily do. This again, is something which management could easily fix. Note that the hotel is Located on a road with some other hotels and nothing else. It’s convenient for London City Airport, ExCel, or if you don’t mind a bit of a commute into central London. There are no shops in the immediate area, although a Tesco Express is a short DLR journey ride away.

I booked three days at Moxy, and in two nights consecutive, me and my wife couldn't sleep due to party noises coming from the neighbor rooms. I contacted reception in this two days but no answer from the phone. I had to take the elevator at 5 am to try talk to someone, but just at 06:00 the music was reduced to a respectful level. Room is fine, bed is comfy.

Not really attentive or nice service in the reception including the management during the whole stay. The room was very small but comfy bed. Breakfast was good and the lobby is quite unique and fun. Overall a bit overpriced for the value you get but I guess they can charge that due to the location of Excel
