If this had been my honeymoon- I would have been truly disappointed. Muang Samui is a beautiful resort, but something felt slightly off at nearly every turn. While Tao stood out with consistently warm and helpful service, the rest of the staff, though responsive, were often on their phones, which gave the impression that guest experience wasn’t top of mind. Our room was spacious and well-designed, but the TVs weren’t set to our language, and there was no clear way to change the settings. The food was decent, though surprisingly, the menu lacked any traditional Thai dishes, which felt odd given we were at a resort in Thailand. One of the biggest letdowns was the spa. It was heavily advertised throughout the resort, yet upon arrival, we discovered it was closed for construction. There was no mention of this during booking or at check-in. Since “Resort & Spa” is literally in the name, that omission felt misleading. The location is a mixed bag. It’s right under a flight path, so planes fly overhead regularly. And just outside the property, the vibe shifts dramatically, more “Cancun spring break” than serene island escape. We had also asked in advance if the hotel could help us book excursions, but they simply told us they don’t offer that service and directed us to a booth on the street. If this had been my honeymoon, I would have been truly disappointed. That said, given the price point, and after comparing it to other resorts in the area, I’m not entirely surprised. Oddly enough, their sister location in the north of the island offered the same natural beauty plus a functioning spa and better service overall.
It's very photogenic if you want to take some nice beach photos or go for a swim. The room was comfortable, and mosquitoes were mostly controlled. The television was not on local cable with no apparent way to change the language settings or access streaming services. Do not expect 5-Star hotel service. Staff was often on their phones at the restaurant and around the resort. When we reached out weeks before arriving to ask for help with activities and excursions, they responded that they do not assist with that. When we arrived and asked again they simply directed us to the tourist info booth on the street. The restaurant menu has American and Chinese food - nothing traditional Thai. If you are visiting Koh Samui for the first time, Chaweng Beach is right by the airport - expect loud planes to fly over regularly. You can even hear them from the hotel room. There is a shallow protected bay to wade/swim but there are far nicer beaches on the island. It's not a "bad" hotel, but it definitely isn't 5-star great.
No help! The resort does not help to assist with noisy guests above us in room 2110. Its is like and elephant hits running around until 2am in the morning. 3 kids in one room and the percents in another to let them do what they want. The hotel would not help. They left them there. Would not change us to another room with the same facilities away or move them away. There has been several complaints for other guests. We have had no sleep. Our 15 month old baby can’t sleep
