An absolutely beautiful stay! The Muckross National Park is across the street as is a gorgeous and spiritual ruined abbey as well as a 45 min walk to a beautiful waterfall. The hotel is also beautiful. The restaurants were awesome: a great pub with live music on some nights and a fine dining (better get reservations in advance - the food is worth it). I’m not a big spa guy, but this one was nice: a steam room, sauna, cool indoor pool like a Roman pool, small warm hot tub outside. All staff were friendly. Nearby Killarney has great shopping. A bit busy and parking is tight.
In the hotel photos, you can see lots of photos of Muckross House rather than the hotel. Indeed, the hotel is by the road and our room has a view of the road. The room was spacious and very clean. The staff were helpful and always available. I think in a spa hotel, one would not book for the pool and access to the sauna etc. Breakfast was great!
My friend and I stayed at this hotel for two nights during the last week of June. Upon arrival, we visited the spa, and I must say, the services exceeded our expectations and the facilities were truly amazing. On our last evening, we spent time at Monks Bar and thoroughly enjoyed all the drinks crafted by Jason and Timothy. Jason was particularly wonderful; he patiently answered all our endless questions, shared a fascinating local history lesson, and recommended excellent sites to see on our journey to Dublin. I would highly recommend this hotel and Monks Bar to anyone considering a visit.
