Musk Hotel

Finding a hotel in Istanbul that fits within a tight budget is easier said than done. Many Airbnbs, for example, can go for 35€ a day, and a room without hot water is not unusual. My fiancé and I decided to book a relatively cheap hotel, expecting to run into some issues regarding comfort. We arrived at the hotel, and the staff took us to our room. Immediately, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was warm and smelled amazing, overall tidy, and the shower area was perfect. The water temperature was just what we wanted, the shower had good pressure, and the shampoo smelled amazing. The view was also something we really liked. The hotel’s location was about two minutes from a small shop, and if we wanted to go anywhere else, the bus stop was within a five-minute walk. The best part of our hotel experience was still the friendly staff. They told us to ask for anything we needed—something smaller hotels usually say to make guests more comfortable, without actually delivering good service—but this time, they really meant it. For example, we needed an outlet adapter for some of our devices. Five minutes later, we got a knock on our door, and now we had an adapter. They offered us drinks and bread in the upstairs kitchen area, which was available to all guests for free. Every time we went downstairs, they greeted and chatted with us like we were part of their family. They also mentioned that the hotel used to have just the owner working there by himself, which had cased some issues with communication before, this is not the case anymore at all! It is very rare to feel at home in a hotel, but here, that was the case. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in Istanbul.

My stay at this hotel was a real disappointment. The staff was incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. Upon arrival, we weren't even greeted, and any questions we had were met with curt dismissals. It seemed like the staff had no joy in their work and would rather be somewhere else. Even simple requests were met with exasperated sighs. The lack of hospitality made our stay very unpleasant, and we didn't feel welcome at all. I would strongly advise against choosing this hotel if you're looking for a pleasant and welcoming stay.
