Muthu Lake Naivasha Country Club Naivasha

This resort has the perfect location, right adjacent to Naivasha lake. There are zebras, monkeys and waterbucks and so many birds roaming in the resort freely. You can see them while having meals and walking around, making it an incomparable experience, though you will have to save your food from the monkeys. There are hippos in the lake which can be spotted in the day, at night they come to graze in the hotel and are easy to spot. You can catch a boat to see Lake Naivasha and Crescent Island nearby and get dropped right back at the hotel via boat. The rooms are little older but maintained, however beware of mosquitoes and insects which are in loads at such a location. The windows should have netting for ventilation, otherwise the insects get in the bathroom as soon as you open a window. The beds have mosquito nets which the staff will open at night. The food is quite good, I think there is a lot of fresh catch from the lake also. Vegans and vegetarians will have somewhat limited options. The staff are very cordial and the service is good. Beware of stepping out the room alone at night. All in all, though there are some inconveniences, the location, the views, the animals and the service made it an unforgettable experience for us. Highly recommended.

When you first approach the hotel, the surrounding area doesn’t feel very groomed—it gives off a slightly odd vibe. But once you’re inside the hotel grounds, everything changes. The property itself is beautiful and full of life: zebras, monkeys, and deer wander freely around the grass, and at night, hippos come out of the water and graze nearby. It’s truly magical and unlike anything we’ve experienced before. Yes, the hotel is old and definitely in need of a major renovation, but the connection to nature here more than makes up for it. The location is exceptional—they even offer boat rides at your convenience, which adds to the experience. The rooms are clean, although a bit dated, and while the food options aren’t amazing, they’re manageable. What really makes this place special is how close you can get to the animals—especially the hippos. No other spot in Naivasha offers this kind of open, immersive experience. Many lodges only have a tiny patch of grass near the water, but here, the animals share the space with you. Despite the lack of modern comforts, we were very happy with our choice. If you’re looking for a unique, nature-filled stay, this place is one of a kind.

Great location, average food, dated rooms (but well appointed) the rollaway bed is very uncomfortable. Amazing views of the lake, the animals (hippos, zebras, giraffe, wildebeests) walk right up to the building and can be spotted easily throughout the day.
