Mövenpick Hotel Bari

The hotel has been opened for only five days at the time of this review so it is no surprise there were some problems initially. Our room wasn’t ready when we checked in at 5.30pm and they were unprepared to give us recommendations for parking. However the hotel is really nice, totally new, the rooms clean and high spec, overall an excellent experience. The highlight is the breakfast service which you can have on the terrace of the 7th floor with a rich offer of refreshments and friendly staff. We will be back at this hotel on our next visit.

We were really impressed by the looks of the room, but turns out it was not a good experience. There was no hot water when we first came into the room. It was fixed after we called reception so my husband could take his shower. However, the problem happened again when I tried to shower. We decided to go out and visit the city while they were fixing it. An hour later after coming back to the room, there was still no hot water. They finally changed our room, at 10pm. We now had hot water but the water was not draining properly from the shower. The breakfast was however really nice, and the staff is as nice as can be. They could have been more proactive on the matter by switching rooms as soon as the issue came up. All in all, the experience was disappointing regarding the price paid and that it is a 4-star hotel.

We stayed 1 night on opening day and it quickly became evident that they were not properly prepared to open to guests when they did. We checked in at 3pm however didn’t receive access to our room until 4:30pm and when we finally got up to our room, the cleaner was still in there. The room itself was tired, dated and cramped. The shower head was broken so we had to shower using it hand held, there was no body wash in the shower and the towels were full of lint which made a mess with fluff everywhere. There was nothing provided in the mini bar including no tea or coffee, the air conditioning kept turning off overnight so we had to keep getting up to turn it back on and we were awoken at 4am when loud music briefly started playing through our TV. 15 minutes later we could hear it again in a nearby room. The breakfast however was very good and probably the only good thing about our stay.
